At the Phineas Swann, we are very proud of our breakfast fare. We prepare hot breakfasts that will tempt even the most seasoned breakfast-skippers to indulge. Breakfast is served to guests in our glass enclosed dining porch, and in the summer, on our sunny back deck overlooking the gardens. In the morning, these areas are flooded with sunlight, and you can easily view the birds at the many birdfeeders.
The highlight of our dining area two huge hand-carved 1880’s oak sideboards, each 9 feet tall, and weighing in at over 2,000 pounds. Each morning at 8 am, we cover them with huge helpings of breads, cereals, juices, yogurt, coffee and tea, and a large selection of chopped fresh fruit for those who want to get an early start – perhaps to bike and hike in the summer. These goodies are also kept around a bit later for our late risers.
After sampling selections from our sideboard, guests enjoy a hot country breakfast from our kitchen. Our specialties include raspberry stuffed French toast, huge country omelets stuffed with Vermont cheddar cheese, strawberry crepes, and our famous banana walnut pancakes. We use only the freshest ingredients in our breakfasts, and we’ve made a concerted effort to have them locally sourced whenever possible. When you visit, you’ll get to savor blueberries picked just down the road, Lynne’s homemade bread, eggs from chickens a few miles away, and plenty of pure Vermont maple syrup from one of our local sugarhouses.
Why vacation to the top of Vermont? To relax! So what better way to relax than with one of our Phineas Swann Spa options! Phineas Swann Spa services vary from Day Spa services at SpaVermont — our on-site full-service Day Spa — to a personalized in-room massage and a soak in our outdoor hot tub. Or try a Nordic Spa or Salt Cave experience with our spa partners. All will make your vacation a true Vermont getaway!
From the moment we drove up we felt the warmth and friendliness of this property and its owners and staff ! This Victorian Inn has such beauty and charm , yet is very comfy and homey . Our room was stunning with a huge 4 poster bed and elegant decor. Although our private ensuite was actually a few steps across the hall, the slippers and bathrobes were an added bonus .
We arrived after a tiring day on the ski hill , to provided snacks, hot and cold drinks and a lovely selection of beer and wine ( for a minor price)
The home cooked breakfast was definitely more than we could consume but it sure was delicious!
I def recommend this property and left feeling like we had met new friends.Hope to see you again soon . Thank you”

“From the super comfortable bed to the delicious breakfasts, snacks & beverages, Darren & Lynne have created the perfect getaway. Just minutes to Jay Peak and many wonderful restaurants. Their hospitality was impeccable....bring you swimsuits to enjoy true apres in the hot tub!” - Karen P.
“My family of 4 had such a wonderful stay here with our dog. The beds are comfy and the breakfast is outstanding. My teenage boys loved the complimentary snacks and my husband was thoroughly impressed with the craft beer selection. It was a quick and beautiful mountain drive to Jay to ski. Our dog enjoyed his walk while we were out for the day. The bulldog suite was a great choice for our family. We loved our relaxing stay here and I would highly recommend it.” - Allison W.
A note from Three Rivers Waterkeeper: Our end of year online auction is raising money to support our efforts for cleaner water in our region. The Allegheny, Monongahela and Ohio Rivers make up the headwaters of the Ohio River Basin and provide drinking water to over 5 million people and support a variety of plant and animal life. These rivers suffer from a combination of legacy and novel pollution sources, the most common of which are acid mine drainage, combined sewage overflows, increased flooding and stormwater events, and industrial pollution. Nearly a third of our region’s rivers and streams are considered impaired by the PA Department of Environmental Protection.
The Three Rivers Waterkeeper protects the drinking water of nearly five million people and the habitat of many animals and plants, including endangered species such as the salamander mussel. Over the modern history of our region, mass industrialization polluted our waterways, and our rivers became devoid of aquatic life. Fortunately, with the implementation of the 1972 Clean Water Act and subsequent clean water laws at the local, state, and federal levels, community organizations have been able to hold polluters accountable. As a result, we have seen wildlife come back to our rivers – including our national bird, the Bald Eagle. On or along the Allegheny River alone, the US Forest Service has documented over 50 mammals, 200 birds, 25 amphibians, 20 reptiles, 80 fishes, and 25 freshwater mussels. These waterways also serve as a source of recreation and a way to connect people to nature through positive experiences on our waterways.
As your Waterkeeper based in Pittsburgh, we hold polluters accountable and ensure that our local, state and federal governments enforce the clean water laws which protect the public and environmental health. We combine scientific and legal advocacy to protect the water quality of the Allegheny, Monongahela and Ohio Rivers, and their respective watersheds. We are part of the Waterkeeper Alliance—a global movement of organizations working for clean, healthy, and abundant water for all people and the planet. We also partner with local environmental organizations to educate our community members, connect them to their waterways, and ensure clean waters for future generations. Protecting our waterways is critical to the health and economic prosperity of our region and to ensuring environmental justice for our communities.
