At Cherry Ridge Retreat of Hocking Hills, our cabins are situated nearly a mile from the road amidst 140 acres of private forested land. We focus on quality, not quantity: each cabin is situated on its own private site and each site is unique. As you sit on your porch or gaze from the great room picture windows, all you’ll see is nature: trees, water features, birds, and deer.
Whereas most rentals in Hocking Hills are located on very small pieces of property, Cherry Ridge Retreat of Hocking Hills is situated on 140 private acres. We have miles of trails that wander through wooded ridges and ravines. You’ll find a wide variety of flora and fauna, as well as several serene picnic sites where you can enjoy a private meal in the midst of the forest.
At Cherry Ridge Retreat of Hocking Hills, our hot tubs accommodate four to six people and each is situated to create a spa-like setting that includes dramatic views of the natural surroundings. Each location is private and secluded.
Whereas most Hocking Hills accommodations have small kitchens or kitchenettes, our cabins have complete kitchens suitable for preparing a gourmet meal, with a full sized refrigerator, stove and microwave. Our spacious open plan kitchens include food processors, coffee grinders, coffee filters, full sets of quality pots and pans, salt and pepper and a bar that overlooks the great room. Also included is cooking utensils, dinnerware and silverware, a 9 piece knife set, toaster, blender and salt and pepper. We also provide a can opener, corkscrew, garlic press, cheese grater, a pizza wheel, cutting boards, Pyrex baking pans and baking sheets. A gas-grill can be found at each cabin as well as grilling utensils. We supply the gas—no need to hassle with bringing your own charcoal.
Our cabins are equipped with heating and Central Air, no window boxes here! There are also seasonal fireplaces as well. Our cabins are stocked with Aveda bath products, plush hypoallergenic linens, bath towels and spa towels. A hair dryer can be found in the bathroom. Paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, and hand soap are also provided.
Many cabins in Hocking Hills use “rustic” as a buzzword. At Cherry Ridge, guests find artist-designed furniture, stylish yet comfortable sofas and chairs, wide-plank wood floors, boulder fireplaces in the great room and master bedroom, tiled kitchens with top-of-the-line fixtures, fluffy towels and cloud-like bedding on pillow top mattresses, as well as all natural Aveda bath products.
At Cherry Ridge Retreat of Hocking Hills, we understand that the serenity and rejuvenation you find in the privacy of our woods is multiplied by the quality of your comfort. To that end, we have worked hard to create spaces that are stylish without sacrificing comfort. Each cabin has been appointed with beautiful furniture that has been specifically chosen for your comfort and relaxation. Some of our guests look forward to a little rain so that they can sink into our deep, cushioned armchairs to enjoy a good book or a glass of wine. A good night sleep is of course one of the most important aspects of a night in the woods. We have elevated this important aspect of your stay into an art, seeking out the latest mattress technology to ensure your perfect comfort. Our mattresses are designed to conform to your body, allowing you to rest in perfect comfort.
While many Hocking Hills cabins feature TVs, few can boast the deluxe array of entertainment options that we provide at Cherry Ridge Retreat. Each cabin includes HD TV’s with live TV and streaming options. We have a lending library of DVDs for our guests.
Although Cherry Ridge Retreat of Hocking Hills is designed to maximize privacy, we do offer several unique places where guests can come together and enjoy each other’s company in a relaxed, beautiful setting. Our pond side gazebo includes a 25-foot long two tier bar, ceiling fans, and seating to accommodate couples, intimate groups or larger parties. There is an adjoining deck overlooking the water and just steps away, guests can enjoy an oversize stone grill.
Rarely do you find private ponds in Hocking Hills. Cherry Ridge Retreat of Hocking Hills has several beautiful ponds which can be accessed by a number of wooded trails. Ponds are stocked with bass, hybrid blue gills, and sunfish. We permit catch and release fishing, but ask that guests use barbless hooks. Live bait may not be used. For the safety of our guests, swimming is not permitted. Fishing gear is not provided.

A note from Three Rivers Waterkeeper: Our end of year online auction is raising money to support our efforts for cleaner water in our region. The Allegheny, Monongahela and Ohio Rivers make up the headwaters of the Ohio River Basin and provide drinking water to over 5 million people and support a variety of plant and animal life. These rivers suffer from a combination of legacy and novel pollution sources, the most common of which are acid mine drainage, combined sewage overflows, increased flooding and stormwater events, and industrial pollution. Nearly a third of our region’s rivers and streams are considered impaired by the PA Department of Environmental Protection.
The Three Rivers Waterkeeper protects the drinking water of nearly five million people and the habitat of many animals and plants, including endangered species such as the salamander mussel. Over the modern history of our region, mass industrialization polluted our waterways, and our rivers became devoid of aquatic life. Fortunately, with the implementation of the 1972 Clean Water Act and subsequent clean water laws at the local, state, and federal levels, community organizations have been able to hold polluters accountable. As a result, we have seen wildlife come back to our rivers – including our national bird, the Bald Eagle. On or along the Allegheny River alone, the US Forest Service has documented over 50 mammals, 200 birds, 25 amphibians, 20 reptiles, 80 fishes, and 25 freshwater mussels. These waterways also serve as a source of recreation and a way to connect people to nature through positive experiences on our waterways.
As your Waterkeeper based in Pittsburgh, we hold polluters accountable and ensure that our local, state and federal governments enforce the clean water laws which protect the public and environmental health. We combine scientific and legal advocacy to protect the water quality of the Allegheny, Monongahela and Ohio Rivers, and their respective watersheds. We are part of the Waterkeeper Alliance—a global movement of organizations working for clean, healthy, and abundant water for all people and the planet. We also partner with local environmental organizations to educate our community members, connect them to their waterways, and ensure clean waters for future generations. Protecting our waterways is critical to the health and economic prosperity of our region and to ensuring environmental justice for our communities.
